COAREC Saturday in the Apiary

Below is the preliminary schedule for 2026. Dates and times are subject to change, depending on weather conditions and Heike Williams’ schedule.

Invitations to monthly workshops, which include an RSVP button, will be sent 5 to 8 days before each workshop to those who have registered for notification.

2026 Schedule

Saturday in the Apiary is a casual, loosely structured event intended to provide a learning experience in a relaxed setting.

It usually takes place on the second Saturday of the month at COAREC (Central Oregon Agricultural Research and Extension Center, Oregon State University) in Madras.

Times may vary.

During the session we:

• Perform hive inspections

• Discuss colony management strategies for the month

• Implement them

What to Bring

You will need to bring your own gear (veil/gloves).

A limited number of veils are available upon request.

Who Can Attend

Everyone who is comfortable being around live honey bees is welcome.

This is a free event.

Oregon Master Beekeeper Program Participants

Participants may earn program credit:

• Getting-Started students can earn “In the Bees” points

• Apprentices can earn Education points

• Journeys who help lead a group can earn Service points
