Naomi will be missed, and I am saddened to hear the news of her passing.

I remember one year during the state bee conference, she came racing back to our seats overflowing with enthusiasm about what she had just learned from the lab while viewing a bee under a microscope. Naomi always dug deeper into the science behind what makes a healthy environment for bees. She asked questions that pushed our understanding further and encouraged us all to think more critically and compassionately about the natural world.

I always enjoyed talking with Naomi and Larry about everything related to the natural world—sharing game cam photos, exchanging ideas, and learning from their experiences, especially when it came to keeping bees in something other than a Langstroth hive.
